Alzheimer's Society - Friendly support groups in Gloucestershire: Jan - April 2019
(Published on 04/01/2019)
Memory Café groups are for people affected by dementia, or have
memory-related concerns. Friendly Alzheimer’s Society staff and
volunteers are on hand to provide informal support. Drop in to share
information and experiences with others in a similar situation, or simply
have a drink and a chat in a relaxed setting.
Singing for the Brain® groups are for people with a confirmed
dementia diagnosis, and use music and song to bring people together
in a friendly environment. It is a way for people with dementia to
express themselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive
setting. A friend or loved one is welcome to attend, and no previous
singing experience is necessary!
They also offer specialist support groups for people:
• with a dementia who are younger (diagnosed under the age of 65)
• with a loved-one in permanent residential care
• with an interest in art
